Unique features can enhance the aesthetic value of home wine cellars. At Vintage Cellars, they recommend and utilize eco-friendly features to create exceptional wine displays. Wine barrels are getting more popular among homeowners and builders because they add a distinctive look to a space while being friendly to the environment. Learn how Vintage Cellars transformed spaces into eye-catching wine rooms using reclaimed wine barrels and the benefits of incorporating them into your wine cellar design.
Creativity and knowledge help master builders design wine rooms with a distinctive look. Nowadays, incorporating accents and eco-friendly features into the wine cellar design is a trend. Vintage Wine Cellars found a way to make use of reclaimed wine barrels in building eye-catching wine storage facilities.
Wine barrels have long been used to ferment and age wines. When they have served their function after 5 to 7 years, they are thrown into the landfills. Reusing reclaimed wine barrels reduces waste and helps save mother Earth.
Vintage Cellars, a top-notch designer and builder in California, has brought wine rooms to the next level using unique wine barrel features, adding aesthetic value to the homes where they were built. They engineer wine barrels to utilize them in wine racks, flooring, and countertops.
One of the eco-friendly home wine cellars constructed by Vintage Cellars has a dungeon feel during the medieval period. The wine room is accentuated by the wine barrel racking, stone flooring, arched brick ceilings, and dark tones that dominate the wine room. It was built underground using bricks and reclaimed oak wine barrels from the wineries in Northern California. The overall design of this custom wine room is impressive!
Wine barrel racks are made using the vertical wood taken from the sides of the used wine barrels. They are engineered to create wine racks that stand out. In this project, Vintage Cellars reused the oak reclaimed wine barrels to make beautiful Vintique wine racks, which go well with the old-world look of the home wine cellar.
The team created a wine storage system for 1,200 bottles. One of the challenges in this project was designing the racking within the arches of the wine room. Vintage Cellars sanded the framing and included various single bottle storage, horizontal displays, and diamond bins.
The arched wall consists of wine barrel racks for standard bottles (with a neck-forward configuration) and large format bottles (label-forward configuration). Vintage Cellars added an arch opening with a tabletop to provide space for decanting and serving wines. The diamond bins are ideal for bulk storage and add character to the racking. The wine barrel racks installed on the other walls consist mostly of individual racking and display rows that pitch the bottles at an angle.
The center of the wine room has a long tasting table made of wood, which enhances the vintage look of the traditional wine cellar. With wine barrel racks and elegant chandeliers, the wine display and storage room is an art piece.
Vintage Cellars completed another wine cellar construction project in Orange County, California. The wine room is an attention-grabbing feature in the high-end home. With a wrought iron and glass door, the reddish tones of the wood wine racks stand out.
The large walk-in residential wine cellar has All-Heart Redwood wine racks designed with style and maximizes storage capacity. The various racking styles include elegant stemware wine racks, drawers, individual racking, high-reveal display wine racks, and elevate Series wine racks by Vintage Cellars. The team of master builders added a countertop, center table, and corner walls made from reclaimed wine barrels. These environment-friendly accents complement the theme of the wine room.
Another sustainable design was made by Vintage Cellars for a home in California, consisting of wine barrel features and a distinctive wine storage system. The most notable aspect of this home wine cellar designed by Vintage Cellars is the racking design and wine cellar flooring made from wine barrels.
They incorporated curves into the wine racks to create unique shapes, resulting in what they call the ‘mountain-style wine cellar.’ The wine racks were manufactured using a recycled fermentation tank and the flooring from wine barrels. The Cooperage style flooring was made using the tops and bottom parts of the barrels. No two planks are the same since each wine barrel consists of cooper stamps and markings from the winery. The rustic look of the wine barrel flooring helped achieve the rustic look in the wine cellar.
Other styles of wine barrel flooring are Stave and Infusion. Learn more about Fontenay wine barrel flooring.
