An awe-inspiring modern wine cellar was designed by Custom Wine Cellars Orange County for a high-end home. They installed metal and glass elements, and a beautiful lighting system that highlights the wine display area beautifully. Learn more about this wine room installation project completed by our team, led by Steve Pantalemon.
Custom Wine Cellars Orange County has designed wine storage structures packed with elegant features. For many years, we have proven our expertise and passion for building wine cellars using innovative modern wine cellar design ideas. When the homeowners contacted us, we talked about their goals, including their aesthetic needs. We always want to create a design that reflects the personal style of the client and the existing décor of the space.
The theme of their home is a mix of contemporary and modern elements. Our team did an excellent job creating a design that complements the modern aesthetics of the home. We installed a reliable wine cooling unit that suits the technical and aesthetic requirements of the homeowners. We also made sure that the glass components were installed correctly to help prevent wine storage issues.
Modern wine racks are in demand among homeowners who want a minimalist look in their custom wine cellar in Orange County. We offer metal wine racks made with durability and stability. They can be designed to fit narrow and tiny areas in homes.
In this project, we installed wine pegs on the top-half section of the back wall. These wine racks were from the Wine Cellar Designers Group. The pegs are made of chrome-brushed stainless steel attached to a white back panel for added stability. The peg wine racks are triple deep, allowing two pegs to hold three bottles. This wine rack system stores the bottles with the labels facing out, allowing for easy perusal of the wines.
In addition to maximized bottle capacity, this wine storage system also has a security feature. The pegs are equipped with rubber O-rings that reduce the movement of the bottles. This is especially crucial in areas where a high volume of traffic or earthquake is common.
The bottom section consists of horizontal display racks on both sides. Steve also incorporated open shelves to hold the owner’s alcoholic beverages like vodka, whiskey, and brandy, and provide storage for the owner’s accessories and accouterments.
Peg wine racks are ideal for wine collectors who plan to add more bottles to their collection. Increasing the storage capacity of the racking will not require modifying the entire racking. Just add more pegs, and voila! You will have more storage space for new bottles. The design flexibility and elegance of these wine racks make them perfect for this Orange County modern wine cellar.
The type of lighting system in your wine cellar has a significant impact on the overall appeal of your wine room. It should be placed strategically to achieve the perfect mood in your modern wine cellar and highlight bottles dramatically.
In this project, Custom Wine Cellars Orange County installed an LED back panel lighting system. We used two acrylic boards where we inserted a light panel that created the mellow lighting effect. The owner’s collection is highlighted with the subtle lighting coming from the back panel. The shelves at the bottom are also illuminated by the light coming from the back panels.
One of the goals in this Orange County modern wine cellar project was to conceal the wine refrigeration components so that no equipment could not be seen in the wine room. We utilized the 8000 Ceiling Mount wine cooling unit from WhisperKOOL. As the name implies, the unit is designed for ceiling-mount installation. Meaning, the unit is recessed up in the ceiling and draws in the air accumulated in the ceiling. Only the vent is visible, creating a clean and minimalist look. Other advantages of this type of wine refrigeration system are space efficiency (no wall or racking space is occupied) and installation flexibility.
When we assessed the location of the area, we discovered a problem. It was exposed to sunlight most of the day. For a modern wine cellar with glass walls and door, the location was a critical issue. It would pose wine storage issues in the future if not solved.
We could have used frameless glass in this project. However, it was not a good option because it would allow the heat of the sun to be penetrated inside the wine room and cause the wine cooling system to work hard to achieve the ideal environment. Moreover, heat will result in the formation of condensation in the glass, which will cause varying humidity levels and obscure the view of the wine display from the outside.
To solve the problem, we used dual-paned glass panels framed in metal to create a better seal, help the climate control system to work efficiently, and preserve the quality of the wines.
At Custom Wine Cellars Orange County, we have proven our expertise in building wine rooms with stylish features. In this modern wine cellar project led by Steve, we created an impressive wine display area using metal peg wine racks highlighted using LED back panel lighting.
