Glass Wine Cellar with Wood and Metal Wine Racks
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, one of the most trusted builders of residential wine rooms in Orange County, helped a homeowner build his dream wine cellar. He has a luxurious home, and he thought it deserved a stunning wine cellar that would complement the contemporary features of this space. Let us walk you through how the team built this beautiful wine cellar.
While you might typically associate modern wine cellars with an all-metal and glass design, the Coastal team likes to think outside the box. In this particular home wine cellar, Steve and his team combined the beauty of metal, wood, and glass elements to achieve a stunning modern look. Every component, from the studs to the backer boards and wine racks, was customized and installed with precision.
Their goal was to create a seamless flow between the wine cellar and the home’s interior. If you browse through the wine cellar pictures, you will notice that the wine-drinking area outside the cellar features a neutral color palette of creams, dark browns, whites, and ivory.
To make the modern wine cellar stand out even more, Coastal Custom Wine Cellars chose a darker theme with browns and blacks. This added contrast to the entire room, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere. Just imagine enjoying your favorite bottle of Pinot, Chardonnay, or Riesling in this space while spending quality time with your loved ones!
They wanted to create a visually appealing modern wine closet, so they installed wine racks on all three sides using different configurations.
One of the standout features is the custom backer board placed on top of the wooden shelves. They incorporated VintageView’s metal wine racks and backlighting, which truly transforms the look of this glass wine cellar.
In the center, they included a single wooden high-reveal display row with a light valance underneath to ensure all the bottle labels are easily readable. For the metal wine racking, they opted for VintageView’s triple-deep, black metal wine racks.
These wall-mounted racks may look slender, but they are incredibly sturdy and can securely hold even heavy wine bottles. They created a special cove area in the center that serves as a perfect spot for decanting wines. Currently, it features a beautiful glass sculpture that is highlighted by an overhead puck light, adding a touch of elegance to the space.
They introduced a unique type of wine cellar lighting using acrylic LED light panels. These innovative panels are concealed behind a translucent acrylic board, resulting in a soft and diffused lighting effect. They often utilize this lighting solution to elevate the appearance of a wine cellar wall or create stunning shelf bases for wine racks. It adds a captivating visual element to the overall design.
All Glass and Metal Home Wine Cellar Design
The Coastal team aims to create a glass wine cellar design that seamlessly blends with the existing surroundings. The client’s California home already exudes a modern and luxurious style, and she desires to transform the vacant space at the end of the hallway into a small, modern wine room to house her wine collection.
In line with the contemporary design of the client’s living room, which features flat moldings and a black-and-white theme, they wanted to create a wine cellar that incorporates minimalist elements. The house boasts large glass windows and doors throughout, and even the dining room and other areas follow the existing theme of the home, occasionally adding monochrome color schemes to the walls and carpeted floors.
Steve Pantalemon has a wealth of expertise in designing and constructing custom small modern wine cellars. He loves bringing home wine cellar ideas to life.
Taking into account the overall design of the house, he strategically placed the wine cellar at the end of the hallway in the final layout, ensuring that the wine collections remain prominently displayed.
To maintain consistency, our team developed a modern minimalistic design that features metal peg wine racking and a glass wine cellar door. They also incorporated LED lighting elements to achieve a perfect balance with the white-painted walls of the entire hallway.
This California house highlights a blend of classic colonial architecture on the outside and a modern, minimalist theme on the inside. The dining and living rooms embrace natural light through their expansive glass doors and windows, featuring sleek modern furniture and clean lines for a minimalist ambiance. They extended this design approach to the wine cellar, incorporating a frameless glass door as the enclosure. This placement allows for clean and seamless integration of the wine collection within the hallway.
In addition to enhancing the cellar’s modern aesthetic, our frameless glass door also contributes to insulation. Working in conjunction with the vapor barrier and cooling system, it helps create a precisely controlled climate inside the cellar. Rest assured, our glass doors are tempered to prevent condensation and are sourced from trusted specialists in the wine cellar door industry.
The gray wall, adorned with a cement finish, provides a striking contrast to the white walls and dark-toned floors. This balanced transition from dark to light hues perfectly captures the wine cellar’s simple, modern, and luxurious atmosphere.
